The residents of Mull and Iona will be balloted on if they wish a Community Hydro project should go ahead.   The project is being steered by Sustainable Mull and Iona (previously known as Mull Renewables) and supported by the Mull and Iona Community Trust.
Objectives;  Generation of income for the benefit of Island groups and events – possibly £30K in year 1  Reduction in carbon footprint of the island.

Many local charities and societies have found that funding for projects has almost dried up, or, that they have to find 50% funding themselves.  The Hydro project will inject some of this lost funding back to community groups.
